Check before you pay
- Ask the seller to sign out of iCloud / Microsoft account and turn off Find My (or BIOS/firmware passwords) in front of you.
- Check the battery cycle count and health; a worn battery is a common hidden cost.
- Confirm the exact chip, RAM and storage in the system information screen, not just the listing title.
- Test every key, the trackpad, ports, webcam, speakers and Wi-Fi. Look for dead pixels and hinge wobble.
- Prefer a fresh reset in front of you so you know it is not tied to a company device-management profile.
